Jim Kasprzak, lead trumpet, directs the dynamic 18-piece group comprised of traditional jazz-era instrumentation: full sections of saxophones, trombones and trumpets, plus a swingin’ rhythm section. The ensemble also features two local vocalists: Dan Templin and Kelly Sandula-Gruner, who also perform as the duo Clique Vocals.
The group's repertoire includes beloved tunes from the 'Great American Songbook', made popular by the likes of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and many more. They also perform a number of jazz style Christmas arrangements for holiday shows.
The LCB Big Band has performed numerous concerts, fundraising events and dinner dances. They also appear annually at local outdoor summer concert series and festivals, including JazzFest Michigan in Lansing's Old Town district.
